Study facilities on Chinese campuses: libraries, laboratories and 24-hour rooms

Chinese university libraries are large, heavily used and often open late. Examination weeks change the campus entirely.

Chinese university libraries are typically large, well stocked in Chinese and increasingly in English, and heavily used. Opening hours are long during term and change markedly during the pre-examination period, when reading rooms fill and some universities open 24-hour study spaces.

Laboratory access for postgraduate students is generous where supervisors hold funding, and undergraduate research participation is explicitly encouraged at reform institutions such as SUSTech and at the top science faculties.

Practical notes that students frequently mention: international students can usually access the library and online databases with their student card, but remote access to Chinese-language databases from outside the campus network may be restricted. Ask the library about off-campus access and about English-language resources in your field during orientation.

Tuition, deadlines and stipend figures are revised each cycle. Always confirm the current position with the university's international student office and on the official portal at campuschina.org before you apply.
