About

About this site and how we source our data

An independent multilingual resource for international students considering China. We are not a recruitment agent and we do not charge students.

What this site is

This site publishes profiles of 33 leading Chinese universities with ten years of QS, ShanghaiRanking (ARWU) and Times Higher Education ranking history, a large library of articles covering news, guides, city and subject explainers, scholarships, applicant experience reports and student accounts, and step-by-step documentation of the official application process.

It is written for international applicants who are making a decision that costs years and tens of thousands of dollars, and who need the practical detail — which campus, which language the examinations are in, what the funding excludes — that institutional marketing pages tend to omit.

How ranking data is compiled

Ranking positions are taken from the published editions of the three major global tables: the QS World University Rankings, the ShanghaiRanking Academic Ranking of World Universities, and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Each edition is labelled by its own year. Where a publisher reports a band rather than a precise position — for example "101–150" — the band is shown unchanged, and an empty cell means the institution was not ranked in that edition.

These compilations can lag a publisher's later revisions. Every ranking page links directly to the publisher's own site, and we strongly recommend verifying any figure that matters to your decision at source.

How other data is compiled

Tuition ranges, application fees, deadlines, scholarship stipends and HSK thresholds are taken from official university international admissions pages, embassy announcements for the Chinese Government Scholarship, the Campus China portal, the National Immigration Administration, and the published policy documents of the ministry and provinces. These figures are revised every cycle. Anything you read here should be confirmed with the university's international student office before you rely on it.

Editorial standards

  • Applicant experience reports summarise accounts published by the applicant, by a named news outlet or by a scholarship programme, and the source is given at the end of the article.
  • Student stories marked as verified are based on accounts published by the student or by a named news outlet, and the source link is given at the end of the article.
  • Field notes are compiled from publicly available descriptions of student life. They do not invent named individuals, and they do not attribute statements to people or institutions that did not make them.
  • News items are dated and, where they report a specific release or statistic, sourced to the publishing outlet or official body.
  • We accept no payment from universities, agents or scholarship providers for coverage. There are no sponsored rankings, no paid placements and no affiliate links.

Translations

This site is published in English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Indonesian and French. Navigation, section landing pages, frequently asked questions and every article headline are translated in all six languages. Simplified Chinese carries the deepest coverage: summaries and the full experience-sharing section are translated as well. In the other languages, detailed reference pages — individual university profiles and long-form guides — carry a translated headline with the summary and full text in English, so that the figures and quotations stay exactly as the original sources published them.

Corrections

If a figure on this site is wrong or out of date, we want to know. Write to hello@cnunistudy.com with the page and the correct figure, and we will update it.
