Guangdong and Greater Bay Area scholarship places expand alongside campus growth

Provincial and municipal funding has grown with the build-out of campuses in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai.

The Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship funds full and partial awards at Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University and other provincial institutions, applied for through the host university. Municipal funding in Shenzhen is substantial, particularly for graduate research at SUSTech, the HIT Shenzhen campus and the Shenzhen graduate schools of Peking and Tsinghua universities.

Belt and Road specific schemes administered by Guangdong universities and reserved for applicants from partner countries have historically been undersubscribed relative to the CSC main round. Sun Yat-sen University has dedicated allocations for Southeast Asian and African students, and the university also operates separate schemes for overseas Chinese and for Hong Kong, China / Macao, China / Taiwan, China students.

Guangdong combines lower living costs than Shanghai with one of the largest concentrations of scholarship places outside the capital region.

Tuition, deadlines and stipend figures are revised each cycle. Always confirm the current position with the university's international student office and on the official portal at campuschina.org before you apply.
