English-taught master's degrees in China: what exists by field

Engineering, business, public health, China studies and computer science are where English-medium master's provision is concentrated.

English-taught master's programmes are far more widely available in China than English-taught bachelor's degrees, because postgraduate teaching is smaller, more research-oriented and more likely to be delivered by internationally recruited staff.

  • Engineering and computer science: UM–SJTU Joint Institute, ZJU Haining campus, Beihang, BIT, NPU, HIT, SUSTech, UESTC
  • Business and management: CEIBS, Tsinghua SEM, PKU HSBC Business School, Antai (SJTU), Renmin, Fudan IMBA
  • Economics and finance: PKU National School of Development, Xiamen Wang Yanan Institute, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics
  • Public health and medicine research: PKU, Fudan, HUST Tongji, SYSU, Zhejiang
  • China studies and international relations: Yenching Academy (PKU), Schwarzman Scholars (Tsinghua), Renmin Silk Road School, Fudan, NJU, ECNU
  • Law: PKU School of Transnational Law, Renmin, Fudan, SJTU

Most of these programmes take two years, require IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90 for applicants from non-English-speaking education systems, and are eligible for CSC or provincial scholarship funding. Confirm the campus, the language of examination and the composition of the cohort before accepting an offer.

Tuition, deadlines and stipend figures are revised each cycle. Always confirm the current position with the university's international student office and on the official portal at campuschina.org before you apply.
