Tipe A dan Tipe B: menjalankan dua jalur CSC dalam satu siklus pendaftaran
The two CSC routes are assessed by different committees, use different agency numbers and have different deadlines — which is why applicants who run both roughly double the number of people who see their file.
Jawaban singkat
The structural difference that matters
Type A runs through the Chinese embassy or a designated national agency: you apply there, the embassy reviews the applications and forwards candidates to the China Scholarship Council. Type B runs through a designated Chinese university, which reviews and nominates you.
The important consequence is that these are different committees with different quotas looking at the same candidate. Applying to both is not duplication; it is diversification. A Type A rejection is frequently a quota outcome rather than a judgement on the file, so treating it as the only route is a strategic error.
The mechanism that ties them together
Since 2020 the CSC has required every applicant to upload at least one pre-admission document issued by a target university — a pre-admission notice, a school invitation letter or a supervisor's acceptance letter. Applications without one are rejected automatically.
That requirement creates the sequence that appears in every successful account: apply to the university first, obtain the pre-admission document, then submit the scholarship application. It is why the university application deadline effectively precedes the scholarship deadline, and why applicants who leave the university application until February usually fail.
The practical execution
Create both portal accounts early, using a name spelling identical to the passport. Type A uses a dispatch authority code and Type B uses a university code — entering the wrong code can invalidate the routing of the application entirely.
Map document validity windows against the submission dates so that nothing expires mid-process. The police clearance certificate is usually valid for six months and is the slowest item to obtain; the Foreigner Physical Examination Form also has a validity window. Where several routes are open, keep provincial and city scholarship applications running as backups rather than waiting for one result.
What happens after submission
Interview requests can come from either the embassy or the university channel, so prepare concise answers on motivation and feasibility rather than a memorised script. Multiple recommendation rounds are normal, and final placement follows CSC and university allocation rules rather than a fixed cut-off.
You cannot hold overlapping government-funded awards, so if more than one route succeeds the award is handled under CSC allocation rules. The strategic point stands regardless: running both routes means more committees read the file, at almost no additional cost beyond the paperwork.
