Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Yangtze Delta government scholarships: a comparison

Four provincial schemes covering Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and the surrounding region, with different coverage and deadlines.

Quick answer

Jiangsu

The Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship funds international students at provincial universities including Nanjing University, Southeast University and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Awards vary from full (tuition, accommodation and stipend) to partial (tuition only), and applications go through a provincial online platform as well as the university.

Jiangsu also runs a dedicated "Jasmine Jiangsu" scheme that combines scholarship funding with an internship placement in a Jiangsu company — unusual in China and valuable if you want local work experience.

Zhejiang

The Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship has a Type A full award and Type B partial award, similar in structure to Shanghai's. Zhejiang University, the biggest host, also runs its own international student scholarship and participates in CSC.

Hangzhou's municipal government adds top-up funding for students in specific technology fields, particularly in the Zhejiang University International Campus in Haining.

Choosing between them

If you have a strong academic record and want the largest award, apply to CSC Type B at a university in either province and separately apply for the provincial scheme. If your record is more modest, the provincial partial awards are significantly easier to obtain and still remove the largest cost — tuition.

Tuition, deadlines and stipend figures are revised each cycle. Always confirm the current position with the university's international student office and on the official portal at campuschina.org before you apply.
