À quoi servent réellement les réseaux d'alumni des grandes universités chinoises
The professional value of a Chinese degree is often concentrated in networks — and they work differently from Western ones.
Chinese university alumni networks operate most strongly within the domestic economy. Tsinghua and Peking University alumni are heavily represented in Chinese central government, state-owned enterprises, research institutes and the technology sector, and the cohesion of these networks is a genuine professional asset inside China.
Outside China the effect is weaker but not absent. Chinese firms expanding overseas actively recruit alumni of Chinese universities in their target markets, and the alumni networks of Tsinghua, Peking, Shanghai Jiao Tong, Zhejiang and Fudan maintain active overseas chapters.
For an international student, the realistic value of the network depends on what you want to do. If your career involves Chinese companies, Chinese institutions or China-facing roles, the network is a substantive advantage. If it does not, the degree's technical content and the language and cultural fluency you acquire are the main returns.
