Where a review goes against a student, there is normally an appeal window of a few weeks through the international student office. Suspension is sometimes reversible on evidence of documented illness or other substantial grounds, which is why obtaining documentation at the time — medical certificates, correspondence with the supervisor — matters.

Most terminations are avoidable and are caused by attendance problems, missed preparatory language tests or insufficient progress that was not communicated early. Students who raise difficulties with the international office in the first month of a problem generally retain more options than those who wait.
