快速回答
The problem the applicant had to solve
Fahim Faisal's bachelor's GPA was 2.96. In a process that many applicants assume is decided by grades alone, that should have been the end of it. What carried the application instead was four years of work with Chinese companies — Huawei and CRCC — in interpretation, procurement, administration and team management, much of it completed while he was studying online.
In his own account he is explicit that this was the deciding element: in his interview, the work experience is what convinced the assessors that he could complete the programme.
Three things that worked together
The work record was not the whole story. He had also studied in China since 2017, completing a Chinese-taught associate degree with a GPA of 3.89 and holding an HSK 5 certificate, so he could demonstrate a long and documented relationship with the country rather than a sudden interest in it.
The third element was the study plan. Rather than a general statement of intent, it connected control and energy systems to a specific problem in Bangladesh and stated a long-term purpose: to use what he learned in China to build research capacity at home. That structure — problem, field, university, and what happens after graduation — is the same shape that appears in almost every successful account collected on this site.
What he would do differently
Three things. He would pay more attention to the bachelor's grades, since that was the part of the file he worried about throughout. He would start earlier and contact potential supervisors before applying, because a supervisor who already knows your research interests can change the outcome. And he would sit IELTS alongside the HSK: it was not required for his scholarship, but an English test score keeps other doors open, including PhD applications in Europe.
