Riset biomedis di Tiongkok: skala, pendanaan dan ke mana doktoral internasional melangkah
Structural biology, neuroscience and translational medicine have grown rapidly, with funded doctoral places widely available.
Biomedical research in China has expanded rapidly, supported by large increases in national research funding, the construction of new medical schools and hospitals, and the return of internationally trained scientists. Peking University's life science faculty, Tsinghua's School of Life Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong's and Fudan's medical schools, USTC and the Chinese Academy of Sciences institutes are the strongest research sites.
Structural biology, genomics, neuroscience, immunology and translational oncology are the areas where Chinese groups are most prominent internationally. Facilities include cryo-electron microscopy centres, next-generation sequencing platforms and national primate research centres.
For international doctoral applicants, biomedical science is one of the most accessible fields in China: supervisors hold grant funding that supports stipends, English is the working language of most laboratories, and CSC and Academy of Sciences fellowships cover tuition, accommodation and living costs.
