The Beijing Government Scholarship provides a monthly stipend in the range of CNY 1,400–2,000 with full or partial tuition coverage, and is administered through each university rather than a central application portal. Competition is intense because the host institutions include Tsinghua, Peking University, Beihang, Beijing Normal University, Renmin University and Beijing Institute of Technology.
University-level awards are frequently under-subscribed relative to CSC. Tsinghua runs a competitive university scholarship for outstanding international students and hosts the fully funded Schwarzman Scholars programme. Peking University offers the Presidential Scholarship and the Yenching Academy fellowship. Beihang, Beijing Institute of Technology, Renmin and Beijing Normal all operate president's scholarships for international students.
The most effective strategy is to apply for the university admission, indicate every scholarship you are eligible for in the same form, and separately submit an embassy-route CSC Type A application where the national deadline allows.
